This policy explains what personal data the cVi app collects, why, how it is used and protected, and what your rights are. We are committed to processing only the data necessary to run the service, and to being transparent about how it is used.
01 Who is responsible for your data
The cVi app is published by vinTek, a digital development studio based in Yaoundé, Cameroon. vinTek is the controller of your personal data in connection with your use of cVi.

02 The data we collect
We only collect the data needed to provide the service:
Account data
- Your email address and, depending on your sign-up method, the basic information from your Google account (name, email address).
- A password, stored securely and encrypted (never in plain text).
Data you enter in your CVs and letters
- The information you enter to create your CVs and cover letters: name, contact details, experience, education, skills, and any other content you add.
- A profile photo, if you choose to add one.
Payment data
- When you make a payment, the transaction is processed by our payment providers (see section 5). We keep the transaction records (amount, date, reference) for our accounting obligations.
03 How we use your data
Your data is used solely to:
- create, save and display your CVs and cover letters;
- manage your account and let you sign in;
- process your payments for paid features;
- send you service emails (password reset, account deletion confirmation);
- improve how the app works.
We do not sell your data and do not use it for advertising.
04 Artificial intelligence features
cVi offers optional artificial intelligence features: content suggestions, ATS compatibility analysis, cover letter generation, CV translation and import.
When you use these features, the relevant content of your CV is sent to our artificial intelligence provider, DeepSeek, located in China, in order to be analysed.
This transfer only happens with your explicit consent, which you give before first using an AI feature. You can withdraw this consent at any time from the app settings. Without this consent, the AI features are unavailable, but the rest of the app keeps working normally.
DeepSeek is our current provider. Should we change it, the app would automatically ask for your consent again before sending anything: your agreement is recorded against a specific recipient, and it stops applying the moment that recipient changes. This is not a procedural promise — it is a check our servers enforce on every request.
The consent dialog shown in the app always names the provider actually in service and its country, read from our servers — never a value hard-coded into the app.
05 Sharing your data with third parties
We share some data with providers only to the extent necessary to run the service:
- Payment providers — Campay and CinetPay (Cameroon), to process your Mobile Money and card payments securely. Only one is active at a time; only the one in service when you pay receives your data.
- Artificial intelligence provider — DeepSeek (China) at present, only with your consent, as described in section 4.
- Email delivery service — to send you service emails (password reset, confirmations).
- Hosting — our servers are hosted in the Netherlands.
We do not share your data with any other third party for commercial purposes.
06 Data retention
We keep your data for as long as your account exists. When you delete your account, all of your personal data (CVs, letters, profile, photo) is deleted.
Exception: payment records are kept in anonymised form (amount, date, reference, with no link to your identity) after your account is deleted, in order to meet our accounting and legal obligations.
07 Your rights

08 Security
We implement reasonable measures to protect your data: encrypted passwords, secure connections, and restricted access to data. As no system is infallible, we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we are committed to protecting your data to the best of our ability.
09 Children
cVi is not intended for people under 16. We do not knowingly collect data about minors of that age.
10 Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. In the event of a significant change, we will notify you by an appropriate means. The last updated date appears at the top of this page.
